I did it again, and I’m super happy! At the beginning of the year, I set a goal for myself to cycle 4000 miles in 2015. 2014 was my first year with a proper road bike and I had set, and exceeded, a goal of 2500. So for 2015 I kind of waffled a bit on my goal and finally decided to settle on the goal of 4000 miles. The crazy part of this is that it’s an outage year at my work, which essentially meant that for the month of September I was working double shifts and some weekends and was pretty much unable to ride. Despite that, I was able to smash my goal again. So here I am, at 4000 miles with a couple months left in the year. Most of that is gonna be spent indoors on the trainer, but I’ll still keep adding to my miles.

What does 2016 have in store? I’m not sure. The year starts off early in February with the Tour of Sufferlandria and there is also rumblings of a mass Knighthood riding for charity. Those events will help whip my ass into shape. I’ll definitely be doing several century or longer rides again, I have started collecting annual events that I really enjoy and will return to every year. There’s also plans to finish stitching together a 700+ mile cycling trail across Michigan… I wouldn’t mind setting out on that at some point. I don’t think I’m going to set an actual number for a mileage goal for 2016. Rather, my goal will be to just go further than I did this year, lose some weight, and get faster!

What about you guys? Cycling friends, did you reach any special goals this year? Do you have any big plans for next year?
