I had been on the 4 Hour Body diet for the past year on and off. I’m not going to lie, it’s tough. I had lost nearly 20 pounds on it, then got stuck. I couldn’t drop more, and the diet got boring and I gained some weight back. So I decided to give Nutrisystem another try. I had lost 30 pounds using it right before the accident in 2008. The food is better than last time, but it’s not burgers and wings! I have a wide variety of ghost chile and habanero toppings to help things out. Tasty food is what gets me into this mess, so I’m not in this for yummy.

In the first 4 days I’ve dropped nearly 10 pounds. That’s to be expected though, when you go from eating crap to healthy, the first couple weeks seem dramatic. The progress will slow down soon, but I’m shooting for another 30 pounds. As a starting point, I want to be down under 200 again. I’ll keep the status updates going on here, because keeping track of things in public is somewhat motivating for me. So let’s see how this works out.

If anyone thinks about trying this out, hit me up. I’ll send a referral email, and you can help me earn $30 towards my next month. It costs about $300 for the top level Chef’s Choice package. Plus you still need to go to the grocery store for a few things. Each week I buy some fruit, veggies, yogurt and lean meat. So doing the math, it doesn’t cost a whole lot more than what normal food runs me.

In the end, it’s a bit of a hassle and it’s pretty tough. But I think it’s worth the effort. Hopefully this year when the warm weather comes, I can jump on my bike every morning again. With the lingering pain from the accident, cycling is one of the easier things to do. But it’s really hard to fit it in with work and school. Plus I’d like to have a few moments in the day to visit my wife… I don’t get to see her so much these days.
