Rev. Voodoo

The Voodoo Empire

For a little while things were pretty shakey.  We’d lost access to Angela and Jamie’s wedding site, along with the upload site.  Not to mention we had no access to our hosting at all.  Things are pretty much recovered.  All sites are restored, as is hosting access.  We’ve even managed to sneak in a little upgrade!  The blog page over on the Voodoo Empire main page is no longer a barebones rss import through an xslt fragment…. it’s a full & complete import from this blog.  That pretty much doesn’t mean too much to you, the user, except that we can keep that page more stylized and pretty!  Plus you can see photos and listen to music directly from the blog page without having to come here first! Yay, less clicks!  The only thing left to do now is wait to see if the Spam attack comes back before we declare total victory!

We’ve been so incredibly busy around here with developing the Voodoo Empire brand, that it seems the music may have been a bit neglected!  Well let’s change that right now by injecting a little electro into yer butt!  Now wiggle!  This is another Radio 1 Essential mix, aired on August 21, 2009!

Local Selection: Matt Boyd

Posted by Rev. Voodoo under Local Selection

We’ve had a couple mixes from Matt Boyd here on the Empire.  This time Matt continues with his amazing half & half series with this summertime mix.  Remember half & half equals half digital and half vinyl mixed together.  So old skool, new skool, no skool, you all can appreciate this tasty house set!  Turn it up, tracklisting follows.

3573893747_32dd9c381a.jpg Here’s a neat little mix to get us back into the groove again.  It’s not great sound quality, and it’s under 20 minutes long.  But it’s from the recent DEMF that so many of us went to!  I know I was watchin this live, you probably were too!  So enjoy this little music offering, and we’ll have more for you very soon!

revspinnin.jpg That’s right, the time has come to join us at Avalon in Downtown Toledo (25 S. Huron St) and check out Rev. Voodoo playin his new teched out progressive house sounds.  Then hang around and enjoy the night with us, and check out the rest of the lineup.   This is the last time I’ll be out I believe until after all the legal stuff is dealt with….so it could be a long time before I play again.  I’d love to see you all out, just in case.

200x200-blk-red-logo.jpg The House music has been quite enjoyable to play lately.  There are many good tracks coming out, and the Rev.’s new controller makes mixing the newest tracks so easy and fun.  This mix is pretty enjoyable, although every time Rev. Voodoo makes a mix, a new lesson is learned.  On this one the lesson was to turn off my background programs before mixing, unless we all want to hear nice digital glitches when spybot or the virus program auto-start scans.  The glitches are minor and the music is enjoyable, turn this one up.  Tracklist is below.

240x300-transblack-logo.png The Voodoo Empire has released it’s first track.  Rev. Voodoo’s Voodoo Acid Test is here for your listening pleasure.  It’s a bit of departure from the normal club music.  This goes back to the Reverend’s roots a little, sort of an 80s clanging Industrial vibe to this track.  It may be a bit rough, but it’s a first cut.

lusttebdkj2way.jpg That’s right, Rev. Voodoo is coming out of his shell on January 17th at 11pm.  The Voodoo Empire’s very own DJ Odawa has a weekly event at the Bronze Boar in Toledo called Lust, and he has set the stage for Rev. Voodoo’s return, after months of general yukkiness.  Come out and be a part of this great event, and why not think about checkin this event out every week?  Every week there are great special guests, and you know you’ll have a great time!  The Bronze Boar is located at 20 S. Huron St. in Toledo Ohio…that’s right downtown.  Come on out and have a good time, support your local musical community, and say hi to Rev. Voodoo.
