Rev. Voodoo

Wow, it’s kinda hard to believe we’ve never featured DJ Daddy on here.  Even though you may not be able to hear the influence, DJ Daddy is one of the artists that got Rev. Voodoo spinnin’.  He taught the Rev a lot of stuff about technique, track selection, etc.  And he’s just an all around nice dude!  Check out this mix from DJ Daddy, and hopefully we can feature some more on here!

I haven’t seen any new mixes from Bad Boy Bill in quite some time.  Does anyone even listen to him anymore?  Last I saw/heard him was when he was at DEMF, and his rude ass fans were cheering over Misstress Barbara’s set.  Anyway, this one hasn’t been tested out so I hope the sound quality is decent at least.  I know Bad Boy Bill was one of the first DJs I listened to many years back, him and Frankie Bones…..not so much because its what I liked, more like it was the first stuff I ever heard.  This is Bad Boy Bill live at Mayday 2010 in Dortmund, Germany just the other day, back on April 30th.  Turn it up and lets see what we get!

It’s time for us to pump out some music to all The Voodoo Empire fans once again!  Did a little diggin’ around, lookin for some house to throw up here.  Stumbled across this one by DJ Bryan Jones.  Seems quite a few folks are diggin it.  It’s a promo mix he put together for this year’s WMC.  Speakin of which, anyone make it down to Miami for the WMC this year?  I know I didn’t!  Anyway, dig the mix! Well, Saturday was a big success.  It was Joe’s 30th Birthday party, and I’d say it was a hit!  Thanks to everyone who came out and helped us celebrate in style.  The party was all planned out by Charisse, who despite being quite ill beforehand, put in tonnes of effort to make sure things went off without a hitch!  Clint took care of getting the beer, which was awesome…..seems everyone enjoyed that!  Max and Steph, as always, were such gracious hosts!  The house looked great, anyone who needed a place to crash had one.  And breakfast in the morning was so nice.  Joe’s folks took care of the hairy buffalo/jungle joose…..and some of the other stuff too.  I’d say we definitely surprised Joe, which was the best part!  So to everyone who helped put it all together, and to everyone who came out, a big thank you!

Tomorrow night, Friday, February 12th is the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver Canada!  You are welcome to stop by the house around 7pm if you’d like to join us while we watch them.  Bring grub or drinks with ya if you’d like (or even a chair….).  I hope I’m not speaking too soon, but we should have renovations finished in the back rooms.  Unfortunately, I’m nearly certain we will not have time to furnish the rooms….since we don’t actually even own the furniture yet.  Anyway, we hope to see you tomorrow!

It’s been a little bit since we posted some tunes.  It’s been hectic around the Empire.  House renovations, snow, strange visitors from foreign lands!  But here is a mix that I’ve meant to put up for a little while now.  It’s a quality gem from one of Toledo’s finest!  A good friend of The Voodoo Empire.  It’s The Awakening from Intravenous Bass which aired on NuBreaks.com’s Electronic Enlightenment show back on December 13, 2009.  The show airs every Wednesday night from 6-8 pm if you’d like to check it out.  This one is a little slowed down, it’s dark, dirty and amazing.  Sounds great in a little car with big speakers…..give it a go!
