Rev. Voodoo

You may not even be able to tell, but the VoodooEmpire3 WordPress theme that is used on this very site is very near to completion after a fun day of coding.  The integration of many new features was seamless!  Everything looks the same, but it doesn’t have to anymore!  We’ve added a full featured admin menu onto the theme.  You can now swap out the background, the header image, the footer image, all the icons in the footer, all the links in the footer (including the copyright info), you can specify default thumbnails to be used in titles and posts if no ‘featured image’ is selected, you can swap out RSS feeds for a feedburner feed, you can even upload your own ttf or otf fonts and then assign them to various areas of the site.  Plus, if you swap out the header for your own, you can specify a new logo to drop on, and give it a link.  The only thing left to do is graphical.  We want to give you choices!  So soon, you will be able to pick from a variety of colour schemes!  And you can do this all from a menu system, how cool is that?  Just keep your eyes out for the official release of the theme, coming soon!

That’s right, we have successfully updated the Voodoo Forums software to v2RC1.  The update went smooth.  At first you may not notice much different, we tried to keep the look and feel the same.  Some updates that affect the user are a new and improved media gallery along with some other minor changes you may notice as you use the forum.  The rest of the changes are for Rev. Voodoo, the admin.  Why not take the opportunity now to head back over there and bring the community back to life.  It is, after all, your forum!

Due to some technical difficulties, the Voodoo Empire was dead in the water for the past couple of days.  Users coming to the site wouldn’t have noticed, everything looked fine.  But Rev. Voodoo was unable to access the admin areas of the site to update content or manage the site.  Everything has been remedied and the site is alive and wonderful again.  Just to celebrate, we will get a wonderful new Mix of the Moment up for your enjoyment tomorrow!

It’s been a while since an update to the VoodooEmpire2 theme was released for WordPress.  But all of the updates have been packaged together and are here for your download.  The changes are pretty cool.  First, some of the code was simply cleaned up, I’m learnin to code slowly and was able to clean up some redundant and/or useless code.  The alignment in the sidebars is a little cleaner.  The greeting message was moved from inside the banner to overlaying the top of both sidebars, and instead of the user having to edit the theme themselves, they can simply click on Theme Options in the admin menu to change to a custom greeting.  Finally instead of the simple text footer we had, there is now a 3 column widget area in the footer.  All these options are active on this site so check it out, download, and enjoy.  As always, if you have any ideas or questions, let me know.  I’m always willing to learn, and to try to help.

Well for those users who actually sign in here at www.RVoodoo.com, you may notice some changes in the admin interface.  Mostly in terms of colours.  They will probably continue to change until the Rev. can get things looking just right.  But the ability to change the colour scheme comes thanks to the Baltic Amber Plug-in.  So for any WP users interested in adding some personal splash to the admin interface, you really should check it out!
